We met in December 2001 in a restaurant in Iowa City. I was a cook and she was a waitress. Having a passion for food and foodservice, I decided to make my mark on New Orleans in 2002. She was not satisfied with my desire to move so far away and chased me here, which has been our home ever since.
We purchased Garden District Gem in 2005, a week before Hurricane Katrina. Luckily for us the condo escaped unharmed from the storm and we spent the next two years living in it. In 2007, we purchased Garden District Gem 2, where we lived until 2012.
